Aadi Kailash

Pilgrims call Aadi Kailash a smaller twin of Tibet's Kailash. Parvati Sarovar, a lake, and Gauri Kund, a sacred pool, lie near its base. The mountain is linked to Shiva and Parvati and is revered by Hindus, Jains, Buddhists and followers of the Bon Po faith.

A Shiva temple draws the pilgrims. The lake is associated with Parvati, and the pool belongs to the same tradition.

Wide mountain scenery, demanding trekking trails and a prayerful calm mark the surroundings, so the area appeals to devotees and adventure walkers alike.
